Unaccompanied flute sheet music
Unaccompanied flute sheet music doesn't require any accompaniment, it's simply one flutist playing a flute. This flute music is some of the most fun you can play. Music for the flute that doesn't need an accompanist has a lot of advantages... - No need to find and pay for an accompanist.
- You can do your own thing without worrying about collaborating with someone else.
- No intonation worries - not that you should play out of tune! But sometimes you end up with a piano that's out of tune and what can you do about that on the spot?
- You can set up anywhere and play.
Playing with a pianist is great, but most sheet music for flutes is written with a piano accompaniment, so that's what flutists play most the of time. It's liberating to just play flute music all by yourself. Here are some of my favorite flute solos for unaccompanied flute... - Syrinx by Claude Debussy
- Partita in A minor by J.S. Bach
- Divertissements by Frederic Kuhlau
- Danse de la Chevre by Arthur Honegger
- Trois Pieces by Octave Ferroud - I played this on my college senior recital! It's Western music with a Japanese feel.
- Piece - by Jacques Ibert
- Variations on a Swedish Folk Tune Theme and Eight Variations by Ingolf Dahl
- Fantasies by Telemann - I love these pieces!
You could even play a mini-recital with unaccompanied music for the flute. I say "mini" because one of the disadvantages of playing all by yourself is that you have no down time, no rests while the piano does an interlude, so you'll tire out faster. A short recital of 30 minutes or so would be fun. Two or three flutists could share the recital and play one or two pieces. Don't forget about etude books. There are some lovely solos to be found there. Follow this link to purchase unaccompanied flute sheet music.
