Summer flute practice

My daughter is going into 9th grade and she wants to practice her flute all summer long with some music that she will be learning in the upcoming school year, but we aren't sure what those would be. If you would have any idea what is taught for the flute in 9th grade, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Anisa Stevens

Hi!

That's wonderful that your daughter wants to practice during the summer. Summer is a great time to practice because there's much more time available without school going on. I always got a lot done during my summers.

As far as what to practice, look at what she has already been playing. Has she been using a method book? If so, get the next volume and work through it.

As far as solos, the sky is the limit! I love solos that have an accompaniment CD with them. You can do traditional flute solos or get something fun, such as Disney tunes or Broadway music.

Here are some suggestions...

A great book of flute solos

More advanced solos

How about jazz?

Keep up the great work!
