by Jacob Roseman
(Wausau, WI, USA)
Husband-wife team, flutist Jacob Roseman and pianist Molly Roseman, have just released their debut collaborative CD entitled Something Old, Something Borrowed, Something New: Classics, Transcriptions, and Newer-Written Works for Flute and Piano.
This eclectic recording covers a wide variety of styles ranging from J.S Bach to classical-Latin jazz and showcase the many possibilities and styles of the flute-piano repertoire.
This year the duo celebrates their eighteenth anniversary performing together, which they coincidentally began at the Eastman School of Music in 1988.
The three larger works on the CD include the Sonata by Otar Taktakishvili (1924-1989), Sonata in E Minor “Undine,” Op. 167 by Carl Reinecke (1847-1905) and the Sonata Latino by Michael Mower (b.1958).
The smaller works include Aria, Op. 48, No. 1 by Ernst von Dohnányi (1895-1952), Vocalise, Op. 34, No. 14 by Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943), and the Adagio from Toccata and Fugue in C Major, BWV 564 by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750).
