Sarah Palin Biography
Sarah was born February 11, 1964, in Sandpoint, Idaho, and she was the third child of four. Her family was very middle class. Her father was science teacher and her mother was a school secretary. The family moved to Wasilla, Alaska, 44 miles from Anchorage, when Sarah was just an infant. Her family was very active in outdoor activities, including moose hunting and running. In high school, Sarah was involved in many activities, including sports, music, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Sarah attended four colleges in pursuit of her degree in communications and journalism ... She came in 3rd in the Miss Alaska pageant in 1984, after winning the Miss Wasilla contest. She also picked up the Miss Congeniality award. Her pageant winnings financed her college degree. After a couple of TV sports anchor jobs, Sarah started to become involved in local politics. She served two terms as the mayor of Wasilla. Following an unsuccesful run for Lieutenant Governor, she served on the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. She was elected Governor of Alaska in 2006.
