Sara Palin Flute

Sara Palin flute playing in the Miss Alaska beauty pageant--finally!

I've been wondering what she played ever since Sara burst into the national spotlight in the late summer of 2008...

"The Homecoming" written by Nathan Hardy and arranged by Sir James Galway.

Okay, it's not the greatest flute performance ever and there are multiple problems with tone and intonation. Her embouchure is perhaps a bit tight, but her posture is good and she holds the flute well, though.

But so what?

She made use of the skill she developed in school, a skill she didn't have to learn, and one that most other students don't bother with because it's just too much trouble. So much easier to hang out at the mall, isn't it?

Let's not forget that Sara Palin's flute playing earned her college tuition. She earned it ON HER OWN without asking for a handout from others. That's an extremely important lesson for a country teetering on the edge of financial collapse.

To those who would mock her flutist endeavors (Katie, Charlie, and the army of liberal jerks), I say Sara is to be commended for putting herself on the line, working hard, and going for it.

Anyone who has not stood on a stage and played a memorized flute solo can't know how hard this is! Believe me, it can be petrifying.

Good for her for finishing the solo and placing well in the competition!

Go Sara!
