Right fingering, but wrong sound

by Naomie Charles

What happens when you have the right fingering, but get the wrong sound?

Hi, Naomie!

That depends on what type of wrong sound you're getting.

Is it the wrong octave? For instance, you're getting a lower pitch when you want the higher octave. Direct your air stream higher. You'll also be pushing out your lower jaw.

If you're getting a high note and you want the lower octave, do the opposite: Blow at a spot on the floor.
