Online metronome

An online metronome is a free digital download, easy to use, and it never gets lost.

If you've already got a computer and internet service, this metronome is completely free. It's especially helpful to have a laptop computer so that you can easily take it to where you're practicing. Those new mini-laptops are ideal for this purpose.

Some internet-based metronomes include digital tuning with them.

Here are some free metronome download sites. All are usable online; nothing needs to be downloaded.

This is super easy to use. There is a paid upgrade that turns your cell phone into a metronome. Pretty handy if you can't access your computer and don't want another digital device to carry around. It costs $5.99, which is pretty cheap, but there's a free trial so you can see if you like it.

There is an A=440 for tuning, too.

Webmetronome.com

Simple to use and has colors to emphasize the dominant beat. A slider bar changes the tempo.

This online resource gives you three choices of metronomes...
1) Simple
Simply click the numbers to start. Also shows musical names for tempos, like largo, with its approximate metronome marking and English translation.

2) Traditional
Graphic of a traditional pendulum metronome. You even click the wind-up lever to start it. Fun.

3) Advanced
Advanced version. Tons of features, including various percussion sounds and rhythm patterns.
