Holding out notes on the flute

Question: I can't make a sound when holding down notes. I can play just fine with out holding notes.


Answer: Can you sing a note and hold it? Try doing that first.

Now take a big breath and blow it out. Don't use the flute, just blow out the air that you inhaled. Do that several times.

Next, bring the head joint only up to your mouth and inhale again, then blow out the air. Blow it across the head joint. Do that several times until you are comfortable doing it.

Now try it with your whole flute.
