Haynes Flute
Haynes flute - just the name evokes the romance that is flute playing. I remember the brochures with the flute lying on a black velvet background with a red rose draped beside it. How I wanted one! It was the instrument Jean-Pierre Rampal played. Many flutists from major symphonies and other performing artists have chosen it over the years. The Boston-based flute maker has produced fine flutes since 1888. William S. Haynes made history in 1913 by overcoming a design flaw in flutes. The design was patented and the Haynes standard continues to this day. Haynes was really the only instrument worth having before the Japanese makers came on the scene in the late 1970s. At the time I wanted to buy a flute, there was a two-year wait!
