Foster Extensions

Foster extensions for the flute are a small addition to the end of the flute foot joint that are really sweeping the flute world.

Excited claims of increased projection and responsiveness are just a couple of testimonials for this new addition to the contemporary flute.

Others have reported the low register popping out with ease.

Simplistically stated, the Foster extension seeks to resolve the discrepancy between the actual physical length of a flute tube and the acoustic sounding length of the generated wave form.

The flute is quite scientific, but then all of music is.

Foster extensions can be ordered from Carolyn Nussbaum at www.flute4u.com. Silver and gold models are offered, and must be fitted to each flute. They work with either a C-foot or B-foot joint.

Pricing is not available on line so you will have to call for a quote. This is definitely something I would love to try in my flute!
