Flute Masterclass
Want to study with James Galway? Well, I don't think he's currently accepting students!
However, you can study with top-name flutists of Mr. Galway's caliber in a flute masterclass. The flute masterclass is a great way to work with teachers you could probably never get a private lesson with. Their time and schedules just don't permit it. I love to attend masterclasses. - It's a safe environment--I'm not in the hot seat as a performer.
- I can learn new material I haven't had a chance to work on.
- I learn to teach the same techniques in a new way.
- I confirm that what I've been doing is correct.
What are the benefits to you from a flute masterclass? - The opportunity to study with a big-name flutist.
- If you're a bit shy, you can still learn from the lesson that is being taught.
- If you're a teacher, you can gain new insights and get yourself "pumped up" again.
- Add the masterclass to your resume.
- If you're going to major in flute performance in college, get help evaluating a teacher.
- Meet others in the flute world.
- Travel and learn more about the flute at the same time!
- Have fun!
Where do you find flute masterclasses? If you live in a community with a university and/or a symphony orchestra, check there. Universities and colleges often host masterclasses. Professional orchestras who are featuring a guest artist will frequently hold a masterclass for that artist as well. Check on-line. If you have a particular school or a certain flutist that you would like to study with or that you enjoy listening to, check there web sites to see if a masterclass is scheduled. Check my blog for listings of flute masterclasses and workshops.
