Flute lessonThis lesson is on page 15 of the lesson book. The new note is G. The G shown is above the staff, but the G on the second line from the bottom uses the same fingering. The new musical idea is the fermata. The fermata indicates that you should hold a note longer than its written value. You can use your discretion as far as how long to hold it. A general guideline is to add half the value to the note. For example, a whole note would be held for 6 counts. The two excerpts for this lesson are Au Clair de la Lune by Claude Debussy and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, an old folk tune.
