Illinois Valley Community College Flute Day

Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby, Illinois, will hold its 2nd annual Flute Day on Saturday, February 21, 2009.

Guest artist will be Greg Pattillo and Project.

Les Smart Scholarship Competition

The Flute Symphony of Lexington (Kentucky) is proud to announce The First Annual Les Smart Scholarship Competition.

Sponsored by a dedicated member of the ensemble, the solo competition will feature categories for middle and high school students in two rounds.

The recorded round deadline for receipt of CDs or cassettes is December 1, 2008. Final round competitors will perform live in early March 2009. The top three finalists in each category will receive monetary prizes, and the winners will perform in concert with the Flute Symphony as accompanying ensemble.

2009 Kentucky Flute Festival

January 16 and 17, 2009
Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky

Guest artist in 2009 will be Zart Dombourian-Eby! She is the principal piccoloist and flute and piccolo soloist with the Seattle Symphony, as well as a well-respected artist around the world.

There will be competitions, concerts, masterclasses, clinics, flute ensemble, and lots of other flute-related events.

Claude Monteux Young Artist Competition

The Greater Indianapolis Flute Club is proud to announce the first triennial Claude Monteux Young Artist Competition, with a first prize of $3,000!

Semi-final and final rounds will be held in conjunction with the Greater Indianapolis Flute Club "Indyflute" 2009 Flute Festival, January 30 and 31, 2009, at the Hilbert Circle Theatre in downtown Indianapolis.

The competition is open to flutists ages 18-30. The preliminary recorded round deadline is November 1.
