Flute bag

flute bagA flute bag transports all of the flutist's tools, metronome, tuner, music, cleaning cloths, and more.

Even pockets for cell phones and a large slot for a big orchestra music folder are requested by the busy freelance flutist.

This gig bag needs to be roomy and sturdy because it will take a lot of abuse.

Consideration needs to be given first to the size of the flute case. The flute has to fit in the bag, of course!

Some flutists have large double cases that fit a flute and a piccolo. Some flutists are transporting more than one instrument or large flutes, such as an alto flute.

Some top bag designers include...

  1. Altieri
Altieri makes just about any size and style you can want. Backpack style, briefcase style, double cases, and more.
  2. Jean Cavallero

The best bags have the following features...

  • Pockets for music
  • Multiple zipper pockets
  • Insulation
  • Sturdy straps

If you're on a budget, consider an inexpensive computer bag from a store such as Wal-Mart. Watch for a sale and you can pick one of these up for $20 or $25.

Also, back packs work great. These are also on sale frequently, especially at the start of the school year.

Inexpensive luggage sets are another way to find a flute bag. Luggage goes on sale frequently. I don't suggest using any of the rolling pieces, though, because you don't want your flute rolling over bumps!

A simple tote bag is another option, or a hobo-style hand bag. These are the large bags that you can pack everything you own in.

You can always count on a number of options at Amazon.com, and great prices, too. Check these out...
