Flat D

How do you play flat D?
Hi, JJ.Any time a note is flatted, it is lowered by a half step. Lowering a D by a half step makes it a D-flat.
The low D-flat has all the fingers down, including left thumb. The right pinky should be on the D-flat or C-sharp key.
The middle and high D-flats are played with only the right pinky down. All other fingers are up.
See my
flute fingerings page for more details and my video.
