Easter flute music
Easter flute music is a big part of the church service. Beautiful traditional hymns are wonderful solos for the flute and a great time to share your musical talents in your church.
Second only to Christmas, Easter is the most celebrated time of the church year when we remember the death and resurrection of Jesus our Savior.
Traditional hymn tunes are familiar, such Christ the Lord is Risen Today, He Lives, and Christ Arose.
Classical works abound as well, including Salve Regina, Bach Easter Cantata, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Russian Easter Overture
Easter is divided into two phases, the persecution and crucifixion of Jesus, then his glorious rising from the dead.
Many churches observe a Good Friday service, and music that remembers the terrible suffering Jesus endured for us would be a perfect addition to this occasion. For example, "Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?"
Meditations for the Lenten Season are also good choices for the period leading up to Easter.
Along with solo music, the flute is frequently paired as an obligatto instrument with the choir for beautiful choral works.
There are many beautiful cantatas by J.S. Bach that feature flute solos. These are a fabulous addition to an Easter service.
