Arpeggios

this is what it looks like

this is what it looks like

I'm in college and taking private flute lessons. My professor seems to forget that I am not a music major or minor, and she expects me to write and play arpeggios in B flat major, G minor, and F major.

I have been looking all over the internet to find these and I am having no luck. I have one in C major from her and it starts with a whole note cord of the below the staff C, low E natural, and low G. The next seven measures are eighth notes starting on the below the staff C rising to the high C and then back down to the below the staff C.

Essentially she has it written c, e, g, a, e, g, a, e, and so on. I know that this should seem easy for me to write and do, but I have never been required to do anything like this and I don't know what I am doing or where to even begin.

I was wondering if there was any way that you could help me.

Hi.

An arpeggio consists of the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 1st steps of the scale. So if you know the scales, you can figure out the arpeggios.

In the B-flat scale, the notes are...

B-flat, C, D, E-flat, F, G, A, B-flat

So the arpeggio is...

B-flat, D, F, B-flat

The G minor scale is...

G, A, B-flat, C, D, E-flat, F, G

So the arpeggio is...

G, B-flat, D, G

The F major scale is...

F, G, A, B-flat, C, D, E, F

So the arpeggio is...

F, A, C, F

The note vales you should play depend upon what your teacher has asked you to do. You can play them in all 8th notes, or start with a whole note, play 8th notes, and end on a whole note, etc.

The example you show is one way to play arpeggios. There are many, many ways!

Here is a free listing of the scales for your reference.

I hope that helps you.
