Altus flutes
Altus flutes are a 25-year-old Japanese product from Azumino, Japan, and flute maker Shuichi Tanaka. British flutist, William Bennett, consulted on the design and scale of these handmade flutes. This scale is similar to the Cooper scale; some flutists prefer the Bennett scale. Altus also offers the Azumi flute, a less expensive model, first introduced in 2006. The Jupiter flute, a student-level instrument, is also part of the Altus line.

Within your budget range, it becomes more subjective. Try each and every flute personally, and don't judge buy brand name alone. Some people love the Altus, some will swear by Yamaha or Pearl or another model. In the end, it's your money and your decision.
